The Opportunity

Clay County possessed remarkable natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and a vibrant local community, yet it lacked a unified identity capable of attracting visitors and strengthening economic development. Tourism promotion was fragmented, and local businesses had no cohesive brand through which to tell the county's story.

As Board Chair, I helped lead the organization through a strategic transformation that repositioned tourism as an economic development initiative rather than simply a marketing effort.

I led the initiative by

  • Providing strategic leadership as Chair of the Board of Directors.

  • Defining a long-term vision for destination branding and tourism growth.

  • Developing the Stay in Clay brand platform and messaging strategy.

  • Creating the visual identity, marketing materials, visitor guides, advertising, and digital communications.

  • Building partnerships among local businesses, government leaders, lodging providers, and community organizations.

  • Establishing integrated marketing initiatives that promoted both tourism and local economic development.
